You are me – by Thich Nhat Hanh

You are me, and I am you.

Isn’t it obvious that we “inter-are”?

You cultivate the flower in yourself,

so that I will be beautiful.

I transform the garbage in myself,

so that you will not have to suffer.

I support you;

you support me.

I am in this world to offer you peace;

you are in this world to bring me joy.

What’s In Your Tri-Pod ? By Jim Kennedy

A tripod provides a stable, secure base for holding physical objects.

Like its material counterpart, a spiritual tripod can also provide a source of stability and focus. Develop and use your own spiritual tripod to enhance your life.

It works like this: upon reflection, choose three important ‘realizations’ from your life to be the secure legs of your spiritual tripod. Once you have chosen the three legs, practice activating the spiritual tripod, which is done by focusing on the three realizations – all at the same time.

By way of example, here what’s in my spiritual tri-pod:

1) The realization of gratitude – regardless of what you are feeling / experiencing in the moment (from great pain, hurt, anxiety – all the way to profound joy and pleasure) – be grateful for whatever you are experiencing

PLUS

2) The realization that ‘it changes’ – your experience will never remain the same

PLUS

3) The realization that this moment is ALL that we have – it is the ONLY thing we can ever have.

Activating these three realizations brings you to your center, and helps you to focus and remain in the moment.

This is one helpful tripod, but there are many to be developed and appreciated. Go inside and find your own!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is Inner Difficulty?

Living as a human being, we sometimes meet obstacles that stop us from functioning normally as usual and thus experience our inner difficulty. It is a very normal and human situation. It happens because the obstacles are parts of our lives. Inner difficulty is like our happiness. Both of them are natural phenomenon that arise from our experience as human beings.

We suffer from inner difficulty because we have not had opportunities that would allow us to learn how to cope with these difficulties. Therefore we get stuck in our inner state. However, we will continue to encounter and suffer from our inner difficulties in the future, unless we keep up our spiritual practice and finally reach an state of enlightenment that will free us from all the human sufferings.

In short, it is very natural to have inner difficulty. When it happens, we can choose to grasp the opportunity to learn from it in order to be frees inside.

What is the Life in our modern world?

cloud-ball.jpg

The life that we know was formed through the lens of current world structure. We have learned to see our reality under the constitution of our society and culture and have already got used to perceiving things and conditions via these institutions. We hardly would re-look and re-think of our reality unless a crisis occurs in our lives. For example, Jack would probably never need to think about how he can live entirely differently until the day he encountered a near-death experience. He did not need to fight the constitution of the whole world until he finally realized how much he wished that he could have a different way of living. Doesn’t this story sound very familiar? It is how most of us live our lives. The more security that we try to grasp, the more anxious we are; the more pleasure that we chase, the more frustrated we are. Living in the world that is operated by the current world structure, many of us are unconsciously losing our inner freedom everyday.

The constitution of our world serves us in various ways. We actually gain many benefits and feel convenient under its operation. However, the way it operates is also quite problematic and thus generates our sufferings, both physically and mentally. In order to live in this complicated world with inner peace and harmony, we need to take on a challenging journey that will facilitate the development of our whole-being. Learning to own balance in our body, mind, and spirit, we will begin to taste the pure joy of life.
